A Brief History of the City of Casselberry: Casselberry was named for its founder Hibbard Casselberry, who came to the area in the 1920s to visit his family’s winter home in Winter Park. Mr. Casselberry explored the undeveloped area north of Winter Park, learned that U.S. Highway 17-92 was to be built and knew he had found a perfect place to grow his fernery business and build a housing development. The City developed from a small horticultural community, growing ferns and racing horses during the winter months, into the small metropolis that you see today. Casselberry was incorporated in 1940 and has grown from a population of 400 to approximately 24,893. Today, Casselberry is known as the Community-Minded City. It’s a City of parks, neighborhoods, lakes and small businesses. We hope that you enjoy our community.
