The Asian Cultural Association was formed in January 1991 by a group of like- minded individuals who wanted to preserve and encourage support for the classical music and art forms they enjoyed. Since that time, the organization has progressively expanded its outreach to include larger segments of the community. Our programming currently reaches students, educators, professional and amateur artists in a wide variety of disciplines including music, dance and the visual arts, as well as enthusiasts and supporters of the arts. As the only organization in the Southeast dedicated to bringing an annual season of Asian art forms to our area ACA has tried to present a balanced series of programs reflective of the diverse classical performing traditions of the Indian subcontinent. ACA currently produces an annual season of programming that includes exhibits of traditional visual arts, concerts and dance performances. ACA has for the last 14 years produced an award winning series of educational programs that are provided free of charge to k-12 students and schools alike in Central Florida. For more than 18 years the Asian Cultural Association of Central Florida has been thrilling audiences with wondrous films, beautiful exhibits of sculpture, photography and traditional crafts, concerts featuring the exotic sounds of the harmonium, tabla and sitar and teaching the children of Central Florida about the far away and fascinating lands and culture of the Indian subcontinent. The consistently high quality of ACA’s programs are a result of the recommendations of an advisory board which consists of world renowned Asian artists and members from the local arts community and a long history of partnering with other local organizations and educational institutions. ACA is proud to be a SIX TIME WINNER OF AWARDS FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS to support our programming. Years of exceptional featured artists are indicative of the quality of performance ACA is able to bring to our community. ACA education programs have been honored with a prestigious NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS: POSITIVE ALTERNATIVES FOR YOUTH, an Award for BEST ARTS EDUCATOR by United Arts and ACA is regularly honored by the Seminole County Public School System as a contributor to the DIVIDENDS SCHOOL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM. ACA is currently the largest provider of free arts programming to the Seminole County School System by a community organization. All of these programs are provided at no cost to the students or schools. Currently the ACA is reaching more than 1,000 k-12 students annually with our continuing education programs and our programs reached more than 10,000 people in 2008-09. Education programs have reached more 40,000 students in the last 13 years. Our programming is expanding, and our reputation has reached national stature with a fifth consecutive award by the National Endowment for the Arts."
